(Hood) 11 : 74
فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الرَّوْعُ وَجَاءَتْهُ الْبُشْرَىٰ يُجَادِلُنَا فِي قَوْمِ لُوطٍ

And when the inner fear had left Ibrahim and the Herald had reached him, he began to argue with Us concerning the people of Looth.

It is told in verses 29: 31-32: "When Our Messengers came to Ibrahim with the news, they said, 'We will indeed destroy the people of that city. Its people have become wrongdoers.' Ibrahim said, 'But there is Looth!' They replied, 'We are more knowledgeable about who is in it. We will surely save him and his family, except for his wife; she will be among those who lag.'" Ibrahim is regarded as the bosom friend of the Lord, as mentioned in verse 4:125. This is why he is reasoning with the Lord rather than merely appealing to Him in this instance.
